We had 21 people present at today's event. Of those, 5 were existing DeMolay members, 4 were from Job's Daughter's Bethel #16, 2 were attending with a parent and are interested in joining DeMolay, and the rest were DeMolay adult workers and/or parents of DeMolay youth.
Chris gave an introduction to DeMolay and took questions from the audience. Morgan and Mason spoke about the benefits of joining DeMolay. Two of the stated benefits were "learning life skills and having fun while learning!"
Job's Daughters spoke on a few aspects of their organization. A direct parallel can be made between Job's Daughters and DeMolay. They, having many years of experience in their organization, were able to provide insight into what the DeMolay may look forward too. Two benefits the Job's Daughters spoke about are personal growth and development and the opportunity to meet and make friends with their peers from other countries.
After the formal presentations, today's gathering allowed the opportunity to discuss upcoming DeMolay activities.
We are planning to have DeMolay representation at the following events:
- Royal Arch Grand Convocation on May 30, 2025
- Job's Daughter's Installation on June 1, 2025
- The Grand Lodge of Saskatchewan Annual Communication on June 20, 2025
Another activity that came forward from our DeMolay members was the organization of a "bike ride day" . With the participation of a few adults, they would like to ride the Meewasin Valley trails in Saskatoon.
Fundraising ideas were discussed. Chris Howe confirmed that he has talked to Vivian Skuce about the proposed landscaping/yardwork project. DeMolay members will not be taking on the project.
Ryan Henschel provided information about the candy floss machine he and Deanna have access to. It could be made available to our DeMolay group for a fundraising event. It could prove to be profitable and would be an opportunity for our DeMolay members to interact with the public.
Job's Daughters shared some of their fundraising activities with us. Such as their upcoming bottle drive and their annual Grey Cup ticket sales. Job's will offer us guidance should we decide to apply for a license to run a fundraising raffle such as a 50/50 draw.
And finally, just two pictures from today. Having fun playing Jenga!
