DeMolay Bike Ride Day

Image
Ready to roll! On our way. At Wanuskewin. The DeMolay Bobsled Team! If they build it, I will climb it! On the way back check stop. Dave was ready to rescue anyone who couldn't manage the wind or had bike problems. Another rest stop. Time for some food! Billiards turned out to be the favorite game of the day. As we wound down the day, we had a good round table discussion led by Alvin. Alvin posed three questions to the DeMolay members.  1. What did you like about today's event? 2. What can we do to improve events like this? 3. What activities would you like to do in the future? There was a lot of good feedback from our DeMolay members. And finally, we reviewed some samples of possible T Shirt designs for DeMolay. Stay tuned for more information about T Shirts in the coming days.

We had 21 people present at today's event. Of those, 5 were existing DeMolay members, 4 were from Job's Daughter's Bethel #16, 2 were attending with a parent and are interested in joining DeMolay, and the rest were DeMolay adult workers and/or parents of DeMolay youth. Chris gave an introduction to DeMolay and took questions from the audience. Morgan and Mason spoke about the benefits of joining DeMolay. Two of the stated benefits were "learning life skills and having fun while learning!" Job's Daughters spoke on a few aspects of their organization. A direct parallel can be made between Job's Daughters and DeMolay. They, having many years of experience in their organization, were able to provide insight into what the DeMolay may look forward too. Two benefits the Job's Daughters spoke about are personal growth and development and the opportunity to meet and make friends with their peers from other countries. After the formal presentations, today'...

The workshop was well attended and filled with activities. It was an excellent time for the Alberta Chapters and the Saskatchewan Chapter to spend time together and have some fun. The main hall. Upon entering the hall we were greeted by the hoodie distribution team.  The resident Camp Manager instructed everyone about rules and procedures (how to flush the toilets) during our stay at Camp Warwa. Some happy DeMolay! The sleeping quarters for the DeMolay boys . The common area of the sleeping quarters. A football game ensued shortly after they claimed their bunks.   On Saturday, Flannery provided instruction for some Jiu jitsu. She practices "no gi" Jiu jitsu.
